University Football League (Group C)
UCU 5-1 Kabale
The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Cardinals delivered a commanding 5-1 victory over Kabale University in their Group C match of the Uganda University Football League (UFL) on matchday four.
The game, held at UCU’s home ground, saw the Cardinals outclass their visitors with a five-star performance that left fans in awe.
The Cardinals set the tone early with Oyaka Geoffrey opening the scoring just two minutes into the game, thanks to a well-placed assist from Ogola Patrick.
The momentum continued as Wambunga Marvin Praise doubled the lead in the 6th minute, again assisted by Ogola Patrick, who was instrumental in the first half.
UCU’s dominance was further cemented in the 33rd minute when Abiti Harry found the back of the net, making it 3-0 before halftime.
The first half concluded with UCU in firm control, and the second half saw no let-up from the Cardinals.
Abiti Harry struck again in the 65th minute with a stunning header, and Kyomuhendo Peter added a fifth goal in the 71st minute, leaving Kabale’s defense in disarray.
Kabale managed a consolation goal in the 83rd minute through a penalty by Agaba Jovin, but it was too little, too late.
The match also saw UCU’s skipper, Elton Mwidu David, stretchered off, making way for Norman to make his debut. Despite this, UCU maintained their composure and saw out the game comfortably.
With this victory, UCU moves to 5 points in Group C, trailing behind St. Lawrence University, who lead with 7 points. YMCA follows closely with 5 points, while Kabale remains at the bottom with 4 points.
