Kamuli, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Kamuli District are on the hunt for a suspect accused of assaulting and killing a 35-year-old man who had intervened in a family dispute on Monday evening.
The deceased, identified as Wasige Samuel, a resident of Butabaala, Busota Ward, Southern Division in Kamuli Municipality, succumbed to injuries sustained after he was allegedly attacked by Mudiima Derrick.
According to the Busoga North Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha, the incident occurred on February 24, 2025, at around 4:00 PM.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mudiima was involved in a fight with his biological mother when Wasige stepped in to separate them. In the course of the altercation, Mudiima allegedly struck Wasige on the head, rendering him unconscious.
“The deceased was later taken to Kamuli General Hospital from where he died today, February 25, 2025,” Kasadha confirmed in a Tuesday police statement, adding that authorities have launched a manhunt for Mudiima.
Mr Kasadha urged the public to provide any information that may lead to his arrest so that justice can be served. “We call upon members of the community to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as investigations continue,” he stressed.
The tragic incident left residents of Butabaala in shock, with local leaders calling for peaceful conflict resolution within families to prevent such unfortunate incidents.
