Entebbe, (UG):- Uganda Premier League giants Vipers SC and the entire football community Thursday gathered at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, for a Dua prayer in honor of their late striker, Abubakar Lawal.
The ceremony was attended by Vipers SC President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, players, sports journalists, and other figures from the football world. KCCA head coach Abdallah Mubiru was also among those who attended the ceremony to show support to the Vipers family during this difficult time.
Lawal passed away earlier this week after allegedly falling from the third floor of Voice Mall Shopping Arcade in Bwebajja, along Entebbe Road.
During the ceremony, Dr. Mulindwa praised Lawal for his professionalism, humility, and dedication to the club. “He was a true professional, humble, respectful, and a key player for Vipers,” said Mulindwa.

In addition to the prayer, Mulindwa said Vipers SC will continue to pay Lawal’s family the equivalent of his salary for the next six months as a token of appreciation for his service, even though there was no contractual obligation.
Lawal, also a student at Cavendish University, was set to graduate in May this year and had dreams of helping Vipers SC win the Uganda Premier League this season.
In honor of Lawal, Vipers SC will dedicate their upcoming game against Mbarara City to him.
