Namayingo, (UG):- Shock and fear engulfed residents of Namagenge village, Bulule Ward, Mutumba Town Council in Namayingo District when a man stabbed her wife to death whom he accused of engaging in extramarital affairs before committing suicide by poisoning himself.

The husband, identified as Orusha Moses, reportedly killed his wife, Auma Eunice, using a machete on the night of Thursday, February 27, at around 1 pm before poisoning himself and fleeing the crime scene.

His body was later discovered on Friday afternoon, not very far from their home.

According to the residents, they heard an alarm from the home of Orusha Moses at night between 12:00 am and 1:00 am. The wife’s body was recovered with deep wounds and the internal organs all out.

According to Mr. Ochan Charles, a neighbor, the couple of five children had spent like 3 years in the area, and the injuries were beyond repair.

Police led by AIP Wafula Patrick, the OC Mutumba police station, responded, and preliminary information suggests that the couple was seen together the previous day while returning from the trading center, and there wasn’t any sign of disagreement between them.

It is reported that the husband called his father informing him of the murder of the wife, before fleeing the scene and also told him that they could find his body in a nearby sugarcane plantation because he had taken poison. Sources and relatives cited extramarital affairs as the major cause that contributed to the incident after various family interventions to ensure a stable marriage.

The Mayor of Mutumba Town Council, Mr. Ogenyi Patrick, condemned the act and warned people of Mutumba against such incidents but always resolve domestic matters in a civilized manner by engaging authorities and elders other than aiming at taking lives.

Namayingo District Police Commander, Mr. Kitanda Ronald dispatched officers to the scene and commenced with investigations into the matter, however, he condemned the heartless act by Orusha and asked people to always refrain from such and solve domestic challenges together with authorities in line with family affairs.

“I want to tell people that there is no problem without a solution. Come to us, go to the Community Development Officer or Chairman and inform him that you are not okay at home and you will be counseled and you live a peaceful marriage,” Mr. Kitanda said.

After documenting the scene, police ferried the body to Buyinja Health Center IV mortuary pending postmortem examination before discovering the body of the husband, which was also later taken to the same facility mortuary for autopsy.
