English Premier League side Arsenal FC took a giant step towards the Champions League quarter-finals with a stunning 7-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadion on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s men, who had struggled to find the back of the net in recent weeks, were in blistering form, producing an incredible display of attacking football.

The match kicked off in dramatic fashion as the Gunners raced into a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime.

Dutch defender Jurrien Timber opened the scoring, followed by a goal from 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, and Mikel Merino, filling in as a striker, added a third inside just 30 minutes.

PSV’s hopes were briefly revived when Noah Lang converted a penalty early in the second half, but any chance of a comeback was swiftly dashed.

Just seconds after the restart, Martin Ødegaard restored Arsenal’s three-goal advantage. Two minutes later, Leandro Trossard added a fifth, and Ødegaard sealed his brace to make it 6-1.

Riccardo Calafiori completed the rout with a seventh, leaving PSV shell-shocked.

With the second leg at the Emirates next week, Arsenal now have one foot firmly in the quarter-finals, and only a disaster could prevent them from advancing.

The Gunners are likely to face either Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid, with Real Madrid leading Atlético 2-1 in their tie on the night.

For PSV, the defeat was a bitter blow, and they will need a miracle to stage a comeback in London.
