Kmapala, (UG):- Kawempe North constituency witnessed a massive turnout on Tuesday as hundreds of residents gathered for a two-day music concert organized by the Museveni Awooma NRM Combined Artists.

The event, held at Kawempe Kutaano, aimed to popularize government programs and President Museveni’s achievements while mobilizing support for NRM candidate Ms. Faridah Nambi ahead of Thursday’s by-election.

Presided over by NRM Central Buganda Region chairperson Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi and President Museveni’s brother, Shadrack Nzeire Kaguta, the concert saw both leaders praise the musicians for their efforts in boosting NRM’s visibility, emphasizing the importance of their mobilization through songs and creative arts.

“President Museveni has done a lot for this country, but some people may not be aware or tend to forget. Your mobilization songs are a great way to remind and educate them,” Hon. Kiwanda said.

He highlighted the government’s achievements, including infrastructural development such as tarmacked roads, improved security, and modern hospitals and schools, which were once considered unattainable under previous regimes. Kiwanda urged residents to support Nambi, emphasizing that her collaboration with the government would help address key challenges in Kawempe North.

Similarly, Nzeire Kaguta, the NRM chairperson for Kiruhura district, encouraged voters to elect an NRM candidate, arguing that it is easier for an NRM MP to lobby for government services compared to an opposition representative.

“Being a daughter of Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, the National Vice Chairperson of the NRM and a bush war veteran, Nambi stands a high chance of being appointed minister. This would enhance her ability to lobby for crucial services, including tackling youth unemployment, improving drainage systems, and garbage collection,” Kiwanda added.

Emma Nsereko, alias Munamasaka, the lead singer of the Museveni Awooma group, explained that the event was aimed at strengthening NRM’s support in Kawempe North. He expressed confidence in Nambi’s victory, citing the overwhelming enthusiasm shown by the attendees.

“We want to check and boost NRM’s support in areas where it has been undermined. After Kawempe North, we will resume our mobilization in the Busoga sub-region, where we recently launched in Bugiri district,” Nsereko revealed, calling on President Museveni and other officials to support their efforts.

The group manager, Ibrahim Musoga Nakabona, reiterated that their initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the government and the people by sensitizing them on key development programs.

“We are currently focused on enlightening people about the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and the Youth Livelihood Program, which many have been unaware of, yet the government is offering financial support to uplift them from poverty,” Musoga noted.

Meanwhile, the group’s publicist, Lozio Kyagulanyi, urged residents to embrace government programs to improve their livelihoods. The event was graced by artists, comedians, and politicians from across the country, further amplifying NRM’s message ahead of the crucial by-election.
