Pallisa, (UG):- Authorities in Pallisa District Wednesday received 632 iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister to support various institutions that had requested assistance.

The distribution was led by Pallisa Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Dhikusooka Magid, who urged residents to continue supporting the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2026, citing the government’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges.

Mr. Dhikusooka emphasized that the roofing projects should commence immediately, assuring beneficiaries that he would be monitoring progress. “I now see no reason why the roofing should not start so that when I come around during my routine monitoring exercise, I find the structures shining. I urge the building committees to take full charge of the iron sheets,” he said.

Pallisa District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. Fredrick Byekwaso, welcomed the support from the government, noting that it would ease the district’s burden of providing accommodation for teachers.

Byekwaso said schools in Pallisa are in great need of accommodation for teachers, but the resource envelope cannot achieve the construction of houses. “I now challenge the lucky schools to take advantage of this support and accommodate distant teachers so that work improves and better results are realized,” he said.

The LC5 District Chairperson, Mr. Duchu Patrick, expressed gratitude to the Office of the Prime Minister for the donation but appealed for broader support, requesting that each sub-county in Pallisa District have at least one or two schools supported by the Prime Minister’s office.

The beneficiary institutions include All Saints Catholic Church Oladot, which received 200 iron sheets; Agurur Rock Primary School, which was given 60 sheets for teachers’ housing; Nyako Church of Uganda with 350 sheets; and Nyakoi Primary School, which received 22 sheets for teachers’ accommodation.

Kameke Sub-County LC3 Chairperson, Mr. Vincent Oluka Epoketom, also appreciated the government’s support but called for a more inclusive approach to assist all schools. He noted that many parents have stopped making contributions toward school development due to government directives, which has hindered progress. “If parents were still contributing, it would ease school development, but given the halt by the government, local authorities cannot do much, and performance will keep declining,” he observed.

The government’s intervention through the provision of iron sheets is expected to enhance infrastructure in the benefiting institutions, particularly improving learning conditions for teachers and students.
