Kamuli, (UG):– The Territorial Police in Kamuli District are hunting for a 40-year-old man, identified as Bukusuba Alex, who is accused of brutally killing his wife, Mukoda Masitula, in a suspected case of domestic violence.
According to police reports, the 24-year-old victim, a resident of Mulimira Village, Kasolwe Parish in Kagumba Sub-county, was attacked at Bakusekamajja Zone, Naluwoli Parish in Butansi Sub-county, where she had been living with the suspect.
Authorities revealed that Mukoda had married Bukusuba in August 2024 after divorcing her previous husband. However, their relationship was reportedly marred by persistent domestic disputes, which escalated into violence.
“We have so far established that the deceased married Bukusuba in August last year upon divorce from the previous marriage. The two have been having issues of domestic violence up to the time the murder occurred,” Busoga North Police Spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha said in a Friday police statement.
Before the tragic incident, Mukoda’s sister had advised her to leave the suspect temporarily due to ongoing abuse, a suggestion she followed. However, on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at around 10:00 AM, she returned to the house to collect some of her belongings.
“It was yesterday, 13/3/25, at around 10:00 am, that she went back to pick some of her belongings. At around 01:00 pm, while she was still there, the suspect rang the mother-in-law, warning that he was going to do something bad to her,” Kasadha explained, adding that despite the mother’s pleas, Bukusuba ignored the warnings.
Later in the evening, at around 8:00 PM, information began circulating in the community that a murder had taken place, prompting swift police intervention.
A team of officers, led by the District Police Commander (DPC), responded to the scene and confirmed the killing. Mukoda’s body was transported to Kamuli General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
ASP Kasadha condemned the gruesome act and urged “the couples to always seek marital advice or legal redress where need be other than resorting to violence.”
He added that police investigations into the incident are ongoing as efforts to apprehend the suspect intensify and have him paraded before the courts of law.
