Kampala, (UG):- Radio Simba’s renowned media personality and events promoter, Ssegawa Ismael aka Sureman Kabyanza, has officially declared his bid to vie for the Mubende Municipality Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 general elections.
Sureman, a popular radio presenter at the Bukoto-based radio station and organizer of the annual “Nva Mubende Festiva”, is set to contest under the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket as he seeks to unseat the incumbent MP, Hajji Bashir Lubega Ssempa of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
A well-known figure in Mubende’s social and cultural circles, Ssegawa has already hit the ground running with community empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering unity and development.
His campaign agenda prioritizes improving service delivery in key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the promotion of local talent in sports, music, drama, and dance.

Ssegawa accuses the current leadership of MP Hajji Bashir Lubega Ssempa of neglecting his duties, citing a lack of effective legislation, inadequate oversight of local projects, and failure to represent the voices of his constituents effectively.
With a vision for transformative leadership, He has called on Mubende people to rally behind him promising a fresh approach to governance that directly addresses the needs of the community through impactful policies and strong legislative action.
As the 2026 elections approach, political tensions in Mubende Municipality are expected to rise, with many keenly watching whether Sureman can break the NRM stronghold and usher in a new era of leadership.
