FULL LIST: Uganda Cubs’ final 22-man squad departs for AFCON U17 tournament in Morocco

Entebbe, (UG):- The U17 Mens’ National Team (Uganda Cubs) head coach Brian Ssenyondo has officially named his final 22-man squad that departed Thursday evening to Morocco for the upcoming TotalEnergies AFCON U17 tournament that will run from March 30 to April 19, 2025 in the North African country.

The Cubs departed Uganda on Thursday evening, heading to Morocco for final preparations, including intensive training sessions and friendly matches. The team is gearing up for a tough opening match against Morocco on March 30 at El Bachir Stadium.

Speaking before departure, Coach Ssenyondo expressed confidence in the squad, highlighting the players’ talent, discipline, and commitment. “We have assembled a strong team capable of competing at the highest level. The boys are ready, and our focus is on making Uganda proud,” he remarked.

Drawn in Group A, Uganda will battle against hosts continental giants Morocco, and regional rivals Tanzania, and Zambia, as they aim to progress beyond the group stage.

More importantly, the tournament will also serve as a qualification pathway to the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year, with the top 10 African teams earning slots at the global event.
