Busoga, (UG):- The Territorial Police in Busoga East have arrested eight prime suspects linked to a string of aggravated robberies and murders in a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crimes that have terrorized the region.

Police believe the gang had been operating in an organized criminal network, instilling fear in communities through violent attacks.
“The arrests followed a series of aggravated robberies and murders in which the suspects took part,” the statement read.
Police further revealed that during the crackdown, security teams recovered two firearms and 14 rounds of ammunition in Bugweri District. A silver motor vehicle, registration number UAZ 656D, believed to have been used in multiple crimes, was also seized.
“All the suspects plus the recovered exhibits were taken to Busoga East Region for further investigations,” the police statement added.
The arrests come at a time when law enforcement has intensified operations against armed criminals across the Busoga sub-region.
Recent intelligence reports indicate that while crime remains a significant challenge, regions such as Kiira have made notable progress in reducing organized crime through enhanced joint security efforts.
Police authorities have since urged residents to remain vigilant and work closely with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity to help sustain security efforts.
