Mukono, (UG):- The Police at Mukono Division are holding in custody five suspects arrested in connection with the tragic murder of 30-year-old Ivan Oloya, a teacher at Seeta High School’s Mbalala Campus in Mukono District, central Uganda.
Oloya, according to KMP Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango, was tragically killed in an incident that happened in the wee hours of Saturday, March 22, 2025, close to his residence in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.
Mr Onyango identified the suspects as Paul Kasumba Paul, a 21-year-old casual worker; Simon Mabale, a 23-year-old casual worker; Tom Kibuuka, a 38-year-old mechanic, Simon Lukodda, an 18-year-old casual worker and another 16-year-old casual worker.
According to preliminary police findings, it is alleged that Oloya left his workplace at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, and was headed home to Bajjo when he was attacked and killed near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Abbey Mercy, works as a teacher.
Onyango explained that upon learning of the incident, “the police introduced canine to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects.” “The body was taken to Mulago for a postmortem examination, and investigations are ongoing,” he added.
When contacted, Seeta High School Principal, Mr Devis Kafumbe said Oloya joined the Mbalala Campus just about a year ago, and his tragic murder has sent the students and staff in shock.
Mr Kafumbe said, “Preparations for his send-off are underway as he will be laid to rest in the eastern part of Uganda.”
It remains to be seen if Oloya’s killing is linked to circumstances surrounding the 16-year-old student who was found hanging dead in one of the school dormitories last month.
