Kampala, Uganda:– The Uganda Law Society (ULS) hosted a momentous Dua and Grand Iftar dinner at ULS House in Kampala on Wednesday evening, bringing together Muslim members of the legal fraternity and well-wishers to pray for President Isaac Ssemakadde.
The event, organized under the leadership of the Radical New Bar led by Vice President Anthony Asiimwe, was dedicated to honoring the spirit of Ramadan and reinforcing the values of justice, equality, and resistance against oppression.
During the gathering, a powerful supplication, dubbed “The President’s Duwa,” was delivered by Mr Asiimwe, calling upon divine protection and guidance for Ssemakadde, whom the Bar hailed as a fearless leader in the struggle for an independent legal profession and a just society.
“Ya Allah, Ya Allah! We call upon Your divine guidance and protection for our fearless leader, Isaac Ssemakadde, President of the Uganda Law Society and champion of the Radical New Bar. As he resists oppression, striving for the liberation and awakening of our legal profession and citizenry, we pray for Your unwavering support,” the prayer read.
“As he resists oppression, striving for the liberation and awakening of our legal profession and citizenry, we pray for your unwavering support. Guide him on the straight path and grant him the strength to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.”

The Dua also sought protection against forces that attempt to suppress the voices advocating for a free and independent judiciary.
“Ya Allah, Ya Allah! Perfect our faith (Imaan) and shield us from Shaitan’s whispers. Protect President Ssemakadde from forces seeking to silence him. Keep him safe from harm, and bless him with endless happiness.”
Asiimwe further urged members of the legal fraternity to stand firm with Ssemakadde, describing the battle for judicial independence and equality as a “jihad for justice.”
“We pray that You fulfill all our dreams and aspirations by responding to our duas. Grant us courage, as Rule of Law Mujahideen, to stand with President Ssemakadde in the struggle for an independent legal profession and a judiciary that work in harmony as the two wheels of a chariot, delivering justice and equality for all,” the prayer reaffirmed.

The ULS Dua and Grand Iftar was honoured by prominent members of the Bar, including Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, newly sworn-in Kawempe North MP, Counsel Luyimbazi Nalukoola, Maverick City Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi, and Elison Karuhanga, among others.
