Mengo, Bulange:- Uganda’s National Female Youth Member of Parliament aspirant, Ms Siyemah Atukunda, has boosted the 12th edition of the Kabaka Birthday Run with a purchase of 100 kits to encourage youth involvement in the event scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Lubiri Mengo.
Siyemah announced her contribution in a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, after she paid a courtesy visit to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga on Wednesday.
“Yesterday, I was privileged to pay a courtesy visit to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, at Bulange, Mengo. As we prepare for the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run, I purchased 100 kits to enable youths to actively participate in the run slated for this Sunday, April 06, at Lubiri Mengo,” Siyemah posted.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception rendered to her by the Katikkiro, the 32nd UNSA Deputy Secretary General emphasized the importance of youth participation in the run and urged young people to turn out in large numbers.
“I thank Katikkiro Mayiga for the warm hospitality given to me and my team, and I call upon the young people to come in big numbers and take part in the run,” she said.
Siyemah’s initiative comes as a complementary gesture for the Run’s objective of mobilising young people to actively engage in health awareness activities. “Let’s unite to end the HIV/AIDS spread amongst us the young people,” she said in conclusion of her message.
The 2025 Kabaka Birthday Run, themed “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child,” aims to highlight the crucial role men play in promoting health initiatives, particularly in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This theme aligns with Uganda’s broader goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030.
The Kabaka Birthday Run has a history of addressing critical health issues, previously focusing on diseases like sickle cell anemia and fistula. In recent years, the emphasis has shifted to combating HIV/AIDS, with the Buganda Kingdom partnering with entities like Airtel Uganda to raise awareness and funds for the cause.

As the event approaches, the Buganda Kingdom has unveiled the official run kit and detailed the routes for participants. The run is expected to attract thousands, reinforcing the community’s commitment to health and unity.
