Kigezi, (UG):- President Museveni will starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15th, camp in the Greater Mubende sub-region as he resumes his Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tour and other government wealth creation initiatives, DailyExpress understands.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. This week, I will spend time with the people of Greater Mubende as we assess the PDM in that area,” the President posted in a social media update via his official X account on Monday evening.
The Greater Mubende Region tour is anticipated to be fully attended because that is the region where President Museveni launched his liberation struggle when he attacked the Kabamba barracks in 1981.
The sub-region consists of 5 districts: Mityana, Mubende, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, and Kassanda and 02 municipalities: Mityana and Mubende.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the Presidential Press Unit, Hajj Faruk Kirunda, the President will start his tour on Tuesday, April 15th, with a tour of selected farmers in Mityana and Kyankwanzi Districts.
The President is then expected to launch the Mubende Industrial Hub at Kibuye-Vunga village in Bugonzi Parish in Kitenga Sub County in Buwekula County in Mubende District and also hold a meeting of Parish Model leaders at Mirembe Maria Gardens in Kasanda District on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
The President will wind up the tour on Thursday with the official commissioning of USMID roads in Mubende Municipality and later in the afternoon address a mega rally at Saza Playground in Kiwanguzi in Kiboga District.
The President’s tour comes at a time when the government is doubling its efforts to deliver on promises of socio-economic transformation, especially in rural areas, through programs such as Operation Wealth Creation and the Parish Development Model.
Following the Mubende Tour, Museveni will proceed with his PDM assessment in Rwenzori before concluding with the Central Buganda region.
The President has already visited Acholi, Lango, Teso, Karamoja, Bugisu, Busoga, Bukedi, Kigezi, Ankole, Bunyoro and West Nile Regions to assess the implementation of the Parish Development Model, where he said that he will add more money for the wealth creation programme.
