Namyalo throws weight behind Musician Takuba ahead of ‘Listening In’ Concert at Mestil

Kampala, Uganda: The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has thrown her weight behind Ugandan music sensation Tytan Takuba ahead of his much-anticipated concert slated for April 18, 2025, at Mestil Hotel in Kampala.

The endorsement, announced during a Monday press briefing at ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, reaffirmed ONC’s commitment to youth engagement through arts and culture as part of President Yoweri Museveni’s broader mobilization agenda.

Speaking to the media, Namyalo reemphasized her dedication to Jajja Kaguta’s vision of reuniting Uganda’s youth, whom she fondly refers to as bazzukulu, under the ideals of patriotism, cultural pride, and national unity. “When Museveni appointed me, one of my roles was to bring back the youth and ensure that we counter these useless political waves,” she stated.

Hajjat described Takuba’s music as “an instrument of unity,” stressing its power in countering political disillusionment and fostering collective identity. “Musicians like Tytan help us in this role because they gather a lot of Museveni’s bazzukulu,” she said.

The ONC Boss also spoke fondly of her personal admiration for the artist, revealing that her appreciation for Takuba’s sound goes back to her school days.

“I’ve been a fan of Tytan since way back. His romantic and soulful music touches the heart. It’s beautiful, clean, and uniquely Ugandan. That’s why ONC is proud to support this concert just like we have supported other artists,” she added, calling on Ugandans to rally behind homegrown talent.

On his part, Tytan Takuba, visibly grateful for the ONC endorsement, praised Hajjat Namyalo for her unwavering support and highlighted what fans can expect at the show. He described the Mestil concert as a “maiden performance” ahead of a much larger concert planned later this year.

Known for fan favorites like Nkwata – Mpola, Tokyusanga, Cinderella, and Nkwagala, Takuba’s music resonates with both local and international audiences.

Having risen from modest beginnings in Uganda to an independent music career in Brussels, Belgium, Takuba has carved a space for himself as a self-taught singer-songwriter, blending Ugandan pop, soul, and authenticity.

His latest 12-track album, WENYWEEZE, a Luganda word meaning “tighten your seat belts”, has already stirred praise for its emotional depth and musical richness. “It’s almost like the album found me,” Takuba said. “Writing and performing these songs myself has been an incredible, personal experience.”

The album’s soundscape journeys through romance, vulnerability, and cultural introspection, delivered with poetic lyricism and graceful melodies. Each track reflects a grounded yet soaring Takuba, boldly expressing truth and love in an era of digital noise.
