Kampala, Uganda: Nation Media Group’s flagship English TV station, NTV Uganda, Monday unveiled former UBC TV news anchor, Joram Paul Ssonko, as the new face for its flagship 9 PM news bulletin, NTV Tonight, marking a major addition to the station’s prime-time lineup.
The announcement was made Monday evening by veteran anchor Mildred Pedun, who introduced Ssonko to viewers with excitement. “Ladies and Gentlemen! New face, same trusted news! Meet our newest anchor, bringing fresh energy to your screens! Tune in at 9 PM. Welcome @jorampaulssonko!” she posted.
Ssonko’s debut later that night on NTV Tonight was met with enthusiasm from audiences and colleagues alike. Known for his confident delivery, warm tone, and engaging presence, he brings a new dynamic to Uganda’s most-watched nightly bulletin.
Before joining NTV, Ssonko served as a presenter on Good Morning Uganda and The Front Bench at UBC TV, where he worked from August 2023 to February 2025. He earned praise for his articulate interviews, versatility across topics, and ability to connect with a wide audience.
His move to NTV Uganda signals a strategic refresh for the station, which continues to position itself as a leader in trusted journalism.
With a strong background in live television and a growing fan base, Ssonko is expected to bring both depth and fresh energy to the newsroom.
Ssonko’s appointment reflects the broadcaster’s intent to maintain its dominance in prime-time news, while also tapping into emerging voices in Uganda’s evolving media landscape.
