Kampala, Uganda – The race for Uganda’s National Female Youth MP seat in the 2026-2031 term is heating up, with Siyemah Atukunda officially declaring her candidacy under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) banner.
Atukunda, running on the slogan “A Transformative Youth Agenda,” promises to champion policies that uplift young people across the country. With a strong background in youth empowerment, education, and economic transformation, she aims to bridge the gap between government initiatives and the realities faced by Uganda’s young population.
In her announcement, Atukunda emphasized the urgent need for youth participation in decision-making, job creation programs, and skill development. She also highlighted the importance of digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and access to affordable education.
“Our generation has the power to transform Uganda. I am stepping forward to ensure that youth voices are heard and their challenges addressed at the national level,” she said.
As an NRM candidate, Atukunda aligns her campaign with the ruling party’s vision of stability and development, pledging to work closely with stakeholders to create opportunities for young people.
Her bid has already attracted attention among youth leaders and NRM supporters nationwide, with many rallying behind her call for a transformative agenda. As the elections approach, Atukunda is expected to engage in nationwide consultations, youth dialogues, and mobilization efforts to solidify her position.
With Uganda’s youth making up the majority of the population, the 2026 elections will be a crucial test of how well young leaders can advocate for meaningful change.
