Sironko, Uganda: The Sironko District Council NRM caucus has officially endorsed Julius Nakiyi as the sole party flag bearer for the Budadiri East parliamentary seat ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The endorsement was made during a massive rally held at Kigona Bukiise Primary School on Saturday, April 19, where the district Speaker, Samuel Mafabi, flanked by Deputy Speaker Bigala and several caucus members, formally presented the resolution to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters.
Speaker Mafabi described Nakiyi as a unifier and a strategic figure capable of consolidating the NRM’s grassroots support. “As a caucus, we believe in Nakiyi’s ability to deliver and consolidate our party’s agenda in Budadiri East,” he said.
Nakiyi, in his acceptance speech, thanked the caucus for the endorsement and pledged loyalty to the party. “I welcome this great endorsement with humility and commitment. With God as my guide, I pledge to steer the NRM to resounding victory in 2026,” he told supporters amid loud cheers.
Thousands of residents attended the rally, a sign of rising momentum behind Nakiyi’s bid. Although former MP Hon. Woboya Vincent and Mr. Kiwugulo John have expressed interest in the seat, their campaigns have not yet officially launched.
