Sironko, Uganda: The Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, who is also the Woman MP for Sironko District, Florence Nambozo, on Thursday launched a village-to-village NRM mobilization and sensitization campaign as the party begins nominations for LC1 and other village-level structures.
The campaign officially kicked off in Bukomba Cell, Mutufu Town Council, where Nambozo convened a village baraza to oversee the nomination of candidates. During the event, Nambozo was also unanimously nominated as the sole candidate for Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League in the district.
Speaking at the launch, Nambozo urged residents to conduct peaceful and responsible campaigns and choose leaders who prioritize service and integrity. “After elections, leaders must serve all people with dedication and integrity,” she said.
The Minister also used the opportunity to declare her intention to contest for the position of NRM District Chairperson, emphasizing her ambition to unite the party and steer it toward greater success. “I am committed to uniting our party and taking it to greater heights,” she announced.

However, the launch was not without concerns from the community. John Wandui, a local resident, pointed out the low level of awareness about the nomination exercise, saying many residents were only mobilized on the same morning.
Mafabi Manuel, the Parish Registrar of Tandiga Ward, also highlighted logistical gaps, noting that registrars in Sironko had not received any formal training before the nominations, unlike in other districts.
In response, Minister Nambozo pledged to follow up on the raised concerns. She promised better coordination and greater inclusivity in the ongoing exercise to ensure all eligible members fully participate.
The NRM party is currently conducting grassroots elections to form structures ahead of the 2026 general elections, with special focus on strengthening party leadership from the village level upward.
