In the forty years of IMD, a number of developments have been realized, like health centers and Islamic schools, and land where some Muslim projects are seated; however, there are some challenges that the leadership says will be addressed in their 10-year strategic plan.

“The most challenging part is that Iganga Muslim District, we don’t have an offices and in our 10-year strategic plan, we are going to launch what we are calling the One Stop Commercial Complex of IMD and it will house offices, shops, conference hall and a resource center,” Sheikh Wakinyankali said.

However, the district Kadhi Iganga Muslim district Sheikh Sinan Muhammad Muwanika commended the former president of Uganda, Late Iddi Amin Dada, for the formation of UMSC, who steered the progress of Islam in the country. Amin is being remembered by Iganga Muslims for among others constructing a structure which now houses the Islamic medical center in Iganga town.

Sheikh Muwanika hailed the current leaders of IMD, which was previously covering Bugweri, Namutumba, and Luuka Muslim districts, before commissioning each one as a Muslim district with their respective leadership.

The function was attended by among others, the IMD Vice Chairman, the district spokesperson under UMSC Sheikh Ali Matisad, the general secretary of IMD Hajji Sebidde Farouk who read the history of the district, and other Muslim leaders from within and outside Iganga.
