Las Vegas, USA – His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, the Umukuka III of the Bamasaaba cultural institution, is set to be knighted in the United States for his outstanding contribution to the protection of children’s rights in Uganda.
The institution’s spokesperson, Mr. Steven Masiga, told DailyExpress that the Umukuka Mudoma will travel to Las Vegas this month of May after receiving an invitation from Her Royal Highness Queen Mariam Leonor Torres Mastura, the Chairperson of We Care for Humanity (WCH), an American philanthropic organization.
The two-day international fundraising extravaganza will be hosted along Flamingo Road in Las Vegas and is being organized jointly by WCH and the Embassy of the Philippines. It will bring together global cultural leaders to reflect on issues such as climate change, education, healthcare, sustainable development, and the promotion of cultural spaces.
“Umukuka Mudoma will be honored and knighted for his advocacy in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children, a recognition that places the Bamasaaba cultural institution on the global stage,” Masiga explained.
During his visit, the Umukuka will join delegations from China, Europe, South America, and other parts of Africa. “He will be received at Las Vegas International Airport by Hon. Florence Wakoko, the institution’s envoy to the United States and Canada, and accommodated at the nearby Gold Coast Hotel.”
Mr. Masiga further noted that such international engagements are vital for forging strategic alliances and lobbying for development projects back home.
“His Highness recently secured 50 Masters and PhD scholarships from the United States for the Bamasaaba people, and another 10 scholarships from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Ibanda University has also offered half scholarships to support the institution’s education agenda,” he revealed.
Umukuka Mudoma was officially gazetted as the cultural leader of the Bamasaaba in August 2023. His reign has increasingly focused on education, cultural diplomacy, and community development.
