Kampala, Uganda: Centenary Rural Development Bank, popular as Centenary Bank, has been crowned as the Best Microfinance Commercial Bank at the Uganda Development Champions Awards, a recognition that cements its reputation as a national leader in financial inclusion and economic transformation.
The accolade underscores Centenary Bank’s role in extending affordable banking services to millions of Ugandans, especially in rural and underserved areas, through customer-focused innovation and responsible financial solutions.
Under the leadership of Managing Director Fabian Kasi, the bank has grown its profit by 15.21% to UGX 342.28 billion in 2024, up from UGX 297.08 billion in 2023, making it Uganda’s second most profitable bank and controlling a 20.96% share of the profit market.
With over 3 million customers, UGX 6.3 trillion in assets, 81 branches, 209 ATMs, and more than 7,400 Cente-Agents, Centenary Bank continues to dominate as Uganda’s leading commercial microfinance bank.
The bank’s footprint stretches deep into the countryside, providing essential financial services to low-income earners, small businesses, and corporate clients alike.
Centenary Bank has rolled out a suite of digital services, including; CenteMobile, CenteOnline, CenteVisa debit and prepaid cards, and the Mastercard Platinum debit card. These innovations have helped rural and urban customers manage finances securely and conveniently.
Leadership and Legacy
At the same Awards, MD Kasi was also been honored as a Rural Transformation Champion, recognized for championing financial literacy and promoting access to credit for small businesses in rural Uganda.

Centenary Bank’s impact stems from its foundational values, with ownership rooted in 19 Catholic Dioceses, reinforcing its mission to serve communities with integrity and purpose, with all employees being Ugandan nationals.
In recognition of its performance, Centenary Bank has also been inducted into the Uganda Development Champions Journal under the Uganda Great 63 Public Institutions, while its MD, Fabian Kasi, will also be featured among the Uganda Great 63 Leaders for his leadership and dedication to national development.
