Sembabule, Uganda: Controversial media personality and political activist Frank Gashumba, on Thursday threw social media into a frenzy after photos of his introduction to the family of Patience Mutoni Malaika, became public on the afternoon.

The private Gusaba, a secretive traditional ceremony held in Sembabule District, was attended by a select group of politicians, celebrities, fashionistas, and longtime associates of the Sisimuka Uganda founder.

Sources close to the ceremony described it as a “small meeting,” but photos and videos later posted online showed an elaborate celebration complete with traditional music and fashion.

Gashumba is the father of media personality Sheila Gashumba, born from a previous relationship. The mother and Frank parted ways years ago.

Gashumba, long known for his vocal skepticism toward marriage, stunned many Ugandans by taking this step, given his widely quoted remarks dismissing the institution.

In a 2024 radio interview, Gashumba had revealed why he will stay single forever saying he doesnt have the energy to satisfy a woman’s demands all night: “I cannot get married. What will a woman give me? When you marry, you spend the entire night awake; I don’t have that energy. You have to stay alert to address those intimate matters every night, fulfilling her desires. I cannot do that.”

He even recounted a past relationship where his partner’s high libid* left him feeling physically drained. “At 3 am, at 5 am – I would go to work feeling exhausted, and at one point, I thought I was going to collapse.”

Yet the Thursday event told a different story, one of love, calm, and commitment. Photos shared online showed Gashumba visibly humbled and happy beside Patience Mutoni, as the couple was surrounded by friends and elders from both families.
