Isingiro, Uganda – The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Media Coordinator for Greater Mbarara Subregion, Mujuni Danson, widely known as ‘Obama’ has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson for Isingiro District.
The announcement, made public on Monday, May 19, comes ahead of the NRM district-level elections scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2025, as part of the party’s ongoing internal electoral process aimed at revitalizing its grassroots structures across the country.
In a conversation with DailyExpress on Monday morning, Mujuni emphasized his commitment to strengthening the NRM’s presence and unity within Isingiro District. “I am ready to serve and work with all party members to ensure that the NRM remains the party of choice for our people,” he said.
Mujuni’s candidacy is bolstered by his extensive experience in political mobilization and media coordination within the NRM framework. As the ONC Media Coordinator for Greater Mbarara, he has been instrumental on both Radio and TV in the subregion, actively disseminating the party’s message and engaging with the youth and other stakeholders to promote the NRM’s agenda.

The ongoing tense NRM’s internal elections have been a focal point in recent weeks, with the party’s Electoral Commission, led by Dr. Tanga Odoi, emphasizing the importance of transparency and adherence to party guidelines.
The party’s EC has also addressed challenges such as ensuring that only registered party members participate in the voting process and mitigating undue influence from external actors.
Mujuni’s entry into the race adds a dynamic element to the upcoming elections, as he brings a fresh perspective and a track record of effective communication and organizational skills. His campaign is expected to focus on uniting party members, enhancing grassroots mobilization, and reinforcing the NRM’s core values within Isingiro District.
As the election date approaches, all eyes will be on Isingiro District to see how Mujuni’s candidacy resonates with the party’s base and what implications it may have for the NRM’s future trajectory in the region.
