Ambassador Kezaala leads Qatar travel agents to explore Jinja’s top tourist sites

Jinja, Uganda: Uganda’s Deputy Head of Mission in Qatar, Haji Muhammad Baswari Kezaala, on Saturday led a delegation of travel agents from Qatar on a tour of key tourism attractions in Jinja City as part of a broader campaign to market Uganda as a premier destination.

The eight-member delegation visited the iconic Source of the Nile, Jinja Golf Course, Jinja Sailing Club, and Busowoko Falls on May 18, 2025, a visit aimed at showcasing Jinja’s unique tourism potential to the Gulf market.

Speaking during the tour, Ambassador Kezaala revealed that the group had earlier visited the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to experience Uganda’s world-famous mountain gorillas, before proceeding to Jinja, widely recognized as the adventure capital of East Africa.

“These agents are here to explore Uganda’s beauty and will, on return to Qatar, promote the country through their platforms and networks,” Kezaala noted, adding that some of the travel agents were already livestreaming their experiences to audiences abroad.

He urged local investors in Jinja to seize the opportunity by developing luxurious, eco-friendly hotels along the River Nile to match the expectations of high-end tourists from the Gulf region.

The visit precedes the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025, which officially opened on May 20 at Munyonyo and runs until May 24. The Qatari delegation is among the international exhibitors and tourism promoters participating in this year’s expo.
