Vipers wary of KCCA threat ahead of Uganda Cup Final

Vipers SC head coach Fred Muhumuza speaks to the media at FUFA House in Mengo ahead of Saturday’s Uganda Cup final clash against KCCA FC.

Kampala, Uganda: Vipers SC have declared full focus ahead of the 2025 Stanbic Uganda Cup final set for this Saturday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, as they look to complete a domestic double against fierce rivals KCCA FC.

The Venoms, who were recently crowned Uganda Premier League champions, are aiming for their second double in three years. Head coach Fred Muhumuza says the club is leaving nothing to chance.

“It’s not going to be an easy championship and we are trying to prepare well,” Muhumuza told journalists on Wednesday at the FUFA Complex in Mengo. “We’re managing the fatigue levels of the boys, but they are responding very well. This is the last game of the campaign, and we don’t take it lightly. It’s a final, and we want to win another trophy.”

Despite a dominant league campaign where Vipers finished 19 points ahead of KCCA, Muhumuza stressed that the Kasasiro Boys remain a formidable opponent.

“KCCA FC is a good side capable of beating any team,” he said. “We respect them, and we know this final won’t be easy.”

The Uganda Cup remains one of Uganda’s most coveted trophies, and both teams are fired up for Saturday’s showdown.

KCCA FC, who concluded the league in fifth place, are eager to salvage their season with silverware. Head coach Jackson Magera sounded confident ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.

“We are not going there to watch,” Magera declared. “We are going to perform and get the victory. This is our moment to win the trophy.”

This final marks a rematch of the 2018 Uganda Cup showdown, where KCCA edged Vipers 1-0 thanks to Julius Poloto’s decisive goal.
