Pallisa, Uganda: Counsel Herbert Dakasi, a renowned Ugandan lawyer and community activist, has picked NRM interest forms to contest for the Pallisa County MP seat in the 2026 general elections.
Dakasi, known for his work with Golden Rainbow, a CBO supporting women and girls affected by gender-based violence and HIV, confirmed that he officially joined the race after completing all legal and professional procedures, including resigning from his job and verifying his academic credentials.
“I’m a lawyer who knows the dynamics of the law. I had to process my resignation at my workplace before I came. I’m extremely happy that after verification of my academic and professional credentials, I was served with the interest form upon the payment of UGX 3 million to NRM’s party account in Centenary Bank,” Dakasi told DailyExpress shortly after receiving the forms.
Dakasi first expressed interest in the Pallisa County seat in 2022 and has since engaged in a range of socio-economic activities in the district, including youth development, education support, and community sports initiatives.
Hope Agola, Dakasi’s coordinator in Pallisa Town Council, described his early declaration as a morale boost for supporters and mobilizers.
“The activities Dakasi did in Pallisa are visible. The NRM voters registered in the yellow book should reward him with the mandate. He doesn’t only think about Pallisa—he sponsored the 2024 Ateker Football Cup which involved all Iteso districts, and bought uniforms for teams,” Agola said.
Verdy Akora, a popular DJ in the district, also praised Dakasi’s hands-on involvement with vulnerable youth, saying, “Dakasi sold his name when he got involved in caring for bright disadvantaged children to join higher institutions. His involvement in football led to the tapping of 13 youth who now play in big clubs, which to me is very good.”
Other aspirants in the race include Julius Okurut Arecho, Ibrahim Aisu, and George Patrice Kadimba, whose campaign materials are already visible across the county. However, when DailyExpress reached out to them for confirmation, their phones were switched off.
