Kamuli, Uganda: Police in Kamuli District are holding a 40-year-old woman for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by mutilating his genitals in a violent domestic incident that has shocked the community of Busoigo Cell in Northern Division.
The victim, identified as Masanka Richard, 60, was reportedly attacked late in the night on Friday, June 6, 2025, at his residence in Kasoigo Ward, Kamuli Municipality.
According to Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Micheal Kasadha, the suspect, only identified as Rehema, allegedly waited until her husband was asleep before launching the attack.
Initial investigations indicate that at approximately 11:00 p.m., Masanka went to bed, while Rehema remained outside. Moments later, she reportedly entered the house, attempted to strangle him, and then went on to sever one of his testicles.
The injured man was rushed to Kwagala Medical Centre in Buwengempya and later referred to Kamuli General Hospital for further treatment.
Police condemned the brutal act, describing it as an unacceptable form of domestic violence. “We remain committed to ensuring that we deal with such acts expeditiously,” said ASP Kasadha.
Authorities have urged couples facing conflicts to seek counseling or legal redress instead of resorting to violence that causes irreparable damage to lives and families, as further inquiries continue to establish the motive behind the attack.
