Bugweri, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Eastern Uganda’s Bugweri District have recovered a stolen bull and arrested two suspects in an overnight anti-cattle theft operation conducted in Buyanga Sub County.
The operation, carried out between 11:00pm on Wednesday June 11 and 5:00am on Thursday June 12, 2025, led to the recovery of the bull and the arrest of two herdsmen suspected of being part of a livestock theft ring.
The suspects have been identified as; Sosi Keneth, 22, a herdsman from Bumozi village; and Kakaire Fazali, 22, also a herdsman from Bumozi village, Buyanga Sub County.
According to a Thursday police statement, the operation was part of an intensified effort to curb increasing incidents of cattle theft in the region, which has affected the livelihoods of farmers and pastoralists.
The two suspects, authorities said, are currently in police custody at Bugweri Central Police Station, pending further investigations and formal charges.
The public has since been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements, especially at night, as efforts continue to dismantle cattle theft networks across the district.
