Kampala, Uganda: Senior Presidential Advisor on Trade, Hon. Phillip Kakuru, has injected UGX 100 million into the newly launched NRM Entrepreneurs League SACCO, positioning it as a game-changing vehicle to empower entrepreneurs aligned with the NRM ideology across Uganda.
The SACCO, officially known as Uganda NRM Entrepreneurs League Members Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Limited, was unveiled Saturday, June 13, 2025, at a high-energy ceremony held at Maya Nature Resort in Wakiso District.
The launch brought together entrepreneurs, NRM leaders, and grassroots mobilizers from all regions, signalling a renewed push for financial inclusion and economic empowerment through the party’s structures.
In his keynote address, Kakuru, a leading contender for the Central Executive Committee (CEC) position of the NRM Entrepreneurs League, emphasized the SACCO’s central role in expanding affordable credit access, promoting a savings culture, and facilitating collective investment among party-affiliated businesspeople.
“This SACCO is not just for savings, it is a launchpad for every small business owner and innovator committed to the NRM economic agenda. With the UGX 100 million start-up injection, we are laying a foundation for sustainable economic empowerment,” said Kakuru.

Kakuru confirmed that SACCO operational offices will be rolled out nationally, starting with the first at Bugolobi in Kampala.
The Chief Guest, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, a Senior Presidential Advisor and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), praised the SACCO’s launch as a win for grassroots mobilization and entrepreneurial self-determination.
Namyalo revealed that the initiative had faced internal sabotage, repeated appointment delays, and skepticism from some quarters, but was made possible through the intervention of KACITA Chairperson Tadeus Musoke, who championed the idea directly to President Museveni.
“There are leaders who’ve abandoned traders. They sit in silence while entrepreneurs suffer. But today we celebrate the few who stayed true, like Tadeus Musoke and Phillip Kakuru. This SACCO will be your rescue rope,” She said.

The Chief Muzzukulu also warned the public against voting for leaders who use handouts and petty bribes during campaigns, noting that such individuals often prioritize recovering their campaign spending once elected.
“Don’t vote for envelope leaders. Support those who build systems like this SACCO that uplift communities. The real change starts from here,” she charged.
Namyalo urged entrepreneurs to embrace the SACCO model ahead of anticipated government support, calling it a gateway to public funding opportunities and a strategic response to the needs of small and medium-scale businesses.
In closing, she reaffirmed her support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 re-election campaign, calling on all NRM faithful to rally behind tested leadership. “Settle for the best, Museveni is the best,” she declared to thunderous applause.
The SACCO is now poised to act as a critical arm of economic facilitation for NRM-affiliated entrepreneurs, reinforcing the party’s broader strategy of grassroots wealth creation through organized financial structures.
