Museveni Heads to Greater Mpigi for PDM Progress Review
President Yoweri Museveni will visit Greater Mpigi on June 16, 2025, to assess Parish Development Model implementation and meet beneficiaries.

Mpigi, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to visit the Greater Mpigi sub-region on Monday, June 16, 2025, as part of his ongoing nationwide Parish Development Model (PDM) Zonal Tours.

The President confirmed the development in a post made on Sunday evening, stating: “Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Greetings. I will be in Greater Mpigi this week to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model. Stay tuned!”

The Greater Mpigi tour will include engagements with district leaders, PDM SACCO beneficiaries, and farmers across Butambala, Gomba, and Mpigi districts, as well as the launch of the subregional industrial skilling hub to empower Bazzukulu with vocational skills for self-employment.

The visit is expected to focus on evaluating household-level transformation efforts and strengthening local economic enterprises under the PDM.

The Zonal Tours, which kicked off earlier this year, are aimed at accelerating the implementation of President Museveni’s vision of lifting 3.5 million households out of subsistence farming by 2026. Previous stops have included Bukedi, Sebei, Lango, and West Nile, Ankole, Tooro, and Bunyoro, among others.

The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) indicated that the President will interact directly with successful PDM beneficiaries involved in coffee, banana, livestock, and vegetable value chains.

Mr Museveni is also expected to issue policy guidance on bottlenecks stalling the government wealth creation program in some districts.
