Mafabi Asha Nabulo unopposed as NRM flag bearer for Sironko Woman MP race

Kampala, Uganda: Mafabi Asha Nabulo, daughter to Sironko NRM Chairperson Hajj Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo, has been officially nominated and declared unopposed to carry the ruling party’s flag in the 2026 Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament elections, marking a powerful vote of confidence in her leadership and the values she represents.

Nabulo, who held the NRM flag from 2021 to 2025, described the moment as a collective triumph. “This victory isn’t mine alone,” she said. “It belongs to the people of Sironko. Their belief in continued service, honest leadership, and empowerment has made this possible.”

Her unopposed nomination not only cements her political journey but also affirms the legacy of a family deeply rooted in public service. Her father, Hajj Mafabi, who has served as interim district chairman for over two decades, was also recently re-elected with overwhelming support.

“When one has served and the community trusts you, they will automatically second you,” Asha remarked. “They will front you without hesitation. I learned this from watching my father.”

Nabulo’s political philosophy, grounded in NRM’s values of patriotism and people-first leadership, resonated throughout her statement. “This is what true leadership under NRM means,” she said. “Stand out in your communities. Serve your people with all your heart. That’s what the Movement has always stood for—putting self aside for the betterment of others.”

She further praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for being a national symbol of selfless leadership. “His Excellency has always shown us what it means to love your country above all else,” she said. “That example continues to guide many of us.”

In an emotional reflection, she thanked all those who stood by her during challenging times. “There were moments I felt overwhelmed,” she said. “But those who walked with me, my mentors, supporters, and friends, reminded me to keep going. And because of them, I did.”

Ms Nabulo concluded with characteristic humility: “I’m just a reflection of the love the people have shown me. That love is what made me unopposed.”
