“I’m Not a Political Prostitute!” – Buyela trashes Kadaga alliance talks, pledges allegiance to Speaker Among in CEC Race

NRM CEC Eastern Region aspirant Buyela Christopher dismisses rumours of an alliance with Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, pledges continued loyalty to Speaker Among and principles-based politics.

Kampala, Uganda: Christopher Buyela, a frontrunner in the race for NRM Vice Chairperson Eastern Region, has come out strongly to dismiss reports suggesting he is in talks for a political alliance with First Deputy Prime Minister Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, branding the claims as “deliberate propaganda” aimed at creating rifts within the ruling party.

“I am not a political prostitute. I don’t change goal posts. I stand by my principles and the people who have mentored me,” the Bugisu politician stated through close associates on Thursday.

Buyela, who currently serves under the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) as a national mobilization and training officer, is widely known as a digital strategist and one of the most loyal defenders of Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Annet Among.

Since 2018, he has consistently backed Speaker Among’s leadership, championing her positions across social and traditional media while countering critics within and outside the NRM.

Despite internal NRM competition ahead of the 2025 party elections, Buyela affirmed that his bond with Speaker Among remains unwavering—even if she were to endorse another candidate for the same position he is vying for.

“Even if she supports another candidate, I will never use that as an excuse to betray her. I believe the voters know my track record, and they will make the right choice,” he noted.

He emphasized that in politics, values and relationships should rise above shifting alliances. “Our bond with Rt Hon Anita Among is beyond political interests. It’s built on mentorship, values, and a shared vision for the party and our country.”

Buyela warned bloggers and political operatives against dragging his name into what he described as “factional skirmishes” within the party. “Let me not be misused in battles I’m not part of. I have chosen to stand firm, remain clean, and win on the strength of my ideas—not on manufactured alliances,” he said.

Positioning himself as a unifier and reformist voice in the party’s eastern region, Buyela says his focus remains on issue-based leadership, grassroots empowerment, and rebuilding trust in party structures without drama, betrayal, or secret deals.

With a rising digital following, influence among young cadres, and a visible national profile through the ONC, Buyela’s bid for the NRM Eastern Region CEC slot has become one of the most closely watched races in the upcoming NRM internal elections.
