Kampala, Uganda: Social and political commentator Frank Gashumba has finally come clean on his source of income, stating categorically that he does not earn from the government and that his flashy lifestyle is funded purely through private business ventures.
Gashumba’s revelation follows heightened speculation after he recently held a lavish traditional introduction ceremony before flying out for a honeymoon with his new wife, sparking online questions about how he finances such a lifestyle, given his public image as a critic of government excess.
In response, the outspoken Sisimuuka Uganda CEO addressed the matter head-on. “I don’t hold any government position. I’m just a businessman, just like Bajjo is. All my money is from my business, and I think it’s important for people to know that,” Gashumba stated.
He emphasized that despite being seen supporting figures like First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, he has never benefited financially from any government affiliation. “People think if you’re seen with someone in government, you must be eating from State House. That’s not my story,” he said.
Gashumba further noted that although he sympathizes with some opposition voices, he supports individuals in government based on principle, not financial gain.
“I’m a businessman. That’s how I survive. People need to understand that my lifestyle is not funded by taxpayers’ money. I fund my family and my life through legitimate enterprises,” he added.
Gashumba’s statement comes amid a growing public distrust of politically connected figures, with many Ugandans increasingly questioning how vocal figures manage lavish spending without formal state appointments.
While he did not disclose specific business ventures, Gashumba has in the past been associated with private sector initiatives, motivational speaking, and consultancy.
