Doha, Qatar: Uganda’s Embassy in Doha has issued a public advisory to all Ugandan nationals residing, working, or visiting Qatar, urging calm and vigilance amid recent regional security developments.
The advisory, released Monday, June 23, follows confirmed reports of missile activity in the Gulf region and temporary airspace restrictions that have prompted heightened security protocols by the Qatari authorities.
In a public statement announcing the advisory, the Ugandan Embassy commended the Government of Qatar for taking swift and effective measures to safeguard public safety.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Doha wishes to bring to the attention of all Ugandan nationals currently residing, working, or visiting in the State of Qatar the ongoing regional security developments, including reports of missile activity and temporary airspace restrictions,” the statement read in part.
“Based on information received from Qatari authorities, the situation remains calm across the country and there is no cause for alarm,” it added, advising Ugandan nationals to stay alert, closely follow official advisories, and avoid circulating unverified information that may lead to unnecessary panic or misinformation within the diaspora community.
“The Embassy further calls upon members of the Ugandan community to refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic or confusion. Ugandans are encouraged to remain in contact with the Embassy and to ensure that their details are up to date in the Embassy’s community database.”
For any urgent assistance or consular needs, Ugandan nationals in Qatar are encouraged to contact the following: Embassy Landline: +974 4427 7339 and the Embassy Public Relations Office: +974 6655 3626
“The Embassy remains committed to the safety and well-being of Ugandans in Qatar and will continue to issue updates as the situation evolves,” the statement concluded.
Qatar is home to hundreds of Ugandan migrant workers, students, and business professionals. The advisory comes as part of the Embassy’s proactive efforts to ensure communication and community protection in the face of regional instability.
