Kampala, Uganda: The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), under Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo’s leadership, announced that the landmark “Abanaku Tweyambe Wealth Creation Empowerment” campaign that was initially planned for July 4, 2025, in Katwe, Makindye Division, has been moved forward to Wednesday, July 2, 2025, with immediate effect.
This, according to the Kyambogo office, is to avoid clashing with President Yoweri Museveni’s historic July 4th nomination as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flag bearer and party chairperson for the 2026 general elections.
ONC Spokesperson Mr. Kintu Moses confirmed the development in a public statement today (Wednesday), explaining the adjustment in a statement to the people of Makindye and surrounding neighbourhoods.
“Dear Bazzukulu & the entire people of Makindye Division & the neighbourhood, The dates of our empowerment have been shifted backwards to July 2, 2025, at Katwe -Kasaawe. This comes as a result of the confirmation of our beloved Jajja H.E @KagutaMuseveni’s nomination for Presidential flag bearer for the 2026 elections & Party Chairperson NRM on July 4, 2024,” Mr Kintu posted.
“This will be one of the biggest & loudest empowerment events ever,” he concluded, rallying Bazzukulu to turn up in big numbers for the mega empowerment event.
The ONC-led wealth creation initiative, according to Mr Kintu, is designed to directly tackle poverty through practical interventions that target vulnerable groups, including unemployed youth, women, the elderly, sex workers, and slum dwellers.
The campaign will see Hajjat Namyalo, the ONC Manager, distribute business startup kits that include salon equipment, sewing machines, carpentry tools, popcorn machines, and boda boda motorcycles, all aimed at fostering sustainable self-employment and income generation.
Hajjat’s anti-poverty campaign has previously made notable impacts across various Ugandan regions such as Luwero, Mukono, Acholi Sub-Region, and Ankole, aligning closely with President Museveni’s Parish Development Model (PDM), focusing on community-driven wealth creation and socio-economic transformation.
The attention now shifts to the forthcoming empowerment event in Katwe, which is expected to draw thousands of beneficiaries eager to access new tools for economic empowerment, further strengthening local livelihoods and contributing to Uganda’s broader poverty eradication agenda.
