Entebbe, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni has tasked senior security and political officers undergoing strategic leadership training in Kyankwanzi to internalize and advance the core ideological missions of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), anchored in patriotism, prosperity, and African unity.
In an address delivered Tuesday at State House Entebbe to 130 officers enrolled in the Advanced Joint Senior Political and Leadership Development Course, the President outlined the NRM’s historical missions as “prosperity for our people, strategic security for Africa, and African brotherhood.”
“These missions guided us in identifying our ideological principles: patriotism, pan-Africanism, social and economic transformation, and democracy,” Museveni said.
He cautioned the officers against divisive tendencies rooted in sovereignism, tribalism, and religious affiliations, urging them to instead adopt the “politics of interest” for Uganda’s long-term peace and development.
“I emphasized the importance of overcoming issues of sovereignism, tribalism, and religious divisions, urging the officers to embrace politics of interest for Uganda’s prosperity,” the President noted.
The officers are currently attending the Advanced Leadership Course at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, a program designed to shape the ideological grounding and political orientation of Uganda’s future senior leaders across the armed forces and civil service.
President Museveni congratulated the officers upon nearing completion of the training and wished them well in their future assignments.
