Ssekabiito was mysteriously found dead this morning after traveling to Kampala to attend a friend’s wedding that was scheduled for today, Friday June 27, 2025.

Kampala, Uganda: The media fraternity in Uganda, particularly in the central region, is in mourning following the sudden and mysterious death of CBS FM journalist Jimmy Ssekabiito, a respected reporter who was based in Ssembabule District.

Ssekabiito reportedly left his home on Thursday to attend a friend’s wedding ceremony scheduled for today, Friday June 27, in Lubaga, Kampala. However, shock rippled through the media community and his family by Friday morning as news of his unexplained death began to circulate.

Sources at Lubaga Hospital, where his body is currently lying, confirmed that Ssekabiito was brought in while already deceased. He was reportedly transported on a boda boda motorcycle under suspicious circumstances.

According to hospital officials, the boda boda rider who delivered the body is currently being held for questioning. A second man, who was allegedly supporting Ssekabiito’s body from behind, fled the hospital premises immediately upon arrival and remains unidentified.

“The body arrived on a motorcycle, supported by two men. One of them took off as soon as they got to the hospital gate. The other is being questioned,” said a hospital staff member who preferred anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

While the exact cause of death has not yet been determined, conflicting accounts about the incident continue to emerge. Police are yet to release a formal statement, but investigations into the incident are underway.

At the time of publication, Ssekabiito’s body was still at the Lubaga Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

The death of Ssekabiito has left many colleagues and friends in shock. “He was a dedicated journalist and a humble human being. This is heartbreaking,” said one CBS FM staff member.

As the nation waits for answers, tributes are pouring in on social media, with fellow journalists and public figures calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.
