Jinja, Uganda: More than 20,000 participants from all 82 Muslim districts in Uganda are set to fill Bugembe Stadium in Jinja City on August 6–7, 2025, for the official inauguration of the Uganda Muslim Youth Council Assembly, an event that will mark a new era of youth empowerment and participation in national development.

The landmark ceremony follows the July 2022 amendment of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Constitution, which established democratically elected Muslim Youth Councils from mosque level to national representation.

Under this framework, Muslim youth leaders are now represented on the UMSC General Assembly, giving them a structured platform to influence decision-making and community programmes.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will preside over the occasion as Chief Guest, joined by the Mufti of Uganda, H.E. Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, who will serve as Guest of Honor. Also expected is the USMC National Chairman, Owek. Prof. Dr. Muhammadi Lubega Kisambira, as the Main Celebrant.

Organised under the theme “Youth Empowerment and Skills Development for Self-Sustainability,” the inauguration aims to equip young Muslims with practical tools for self-reliance while strengthening unity and civic engagement.

Hon. Habib Mustafa, the National Chairman of the UMSC Youth Council Assembly, has called upon Muslim youth across the country to attend, describing the gathering as a unique opportunity to shape their destiny and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the Ummah.

According to organisers, the two-day event will feature skills training workshops, exhibitions, and discussions on social and economic development, with a strong emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship.
