Museveni to assess PDM impact in Wakiso this week

President Museveni is set to begin the Wakiso PDM assessment this Monday.

Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to embark on a week-long tour to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model (PDM) implementation in Kampala and Wakiso subregions starting with Wakiso on Monday July 07, DailyExpress can exclusively reveal.

The visit, part of the President’s nationwide monitoring drive, will cover all five divisions under Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) as well as several key town councils and sub-counties in Wakiso District.

Over the past months, the President has traversed multiple regions, including Greater Mukono, Greater Masaka, Busoga, and Bunyoro, to evaluate PDM performance and rally local leaders to accelerate wealth creation efforts.

According to State House officials this publication spoke to, the Kampala and Wakiso tour will focus on reviewing the disbursement and utilization of PDM funds, assessing progress in household enterprise development, and engaging local leaders and beneficiaries to identify implementation gaps.

KCCA has confirmed it is among the lead hosts for the Kampala leg of the engagements and is working closely with area Resident City Commissioners, Division Mayors, and technical teams to ensure a smooth program.

“It is only fitting that we receive our fountain of honour in style,” one senior KCCA official told DailyExpress on condition of anonymity as there was yet to be an official statement on the tour. “This is a crucial moment for us to showcase the impact of the PDM and reaffirm our commitment to transforming livelihoods in the capital.”

In recent weeks, the President has emphasized that the PDM remains the flagship strategy to transition millions of Ugandans from subsistence to the money economy by promoting productive household enterprises.

Under the Parish Development Model, each parish is allocated funds to support organized beneficiary groups engaged in agriculture, agro-processing, and other income-generating activities.

Officials in Wakiso have welcomed the tour as an opportunity to highlight successes and seek solutions to persistent challenges such as delayed SACCO formation and slow uptake of funds.

The tour is expected to feature stakeholder meetings, beneficiary testimonials, and site visits to model enterprises. The engagements will run through Sunday, July 13, after which the President is anticipated to issue fresh directives on accelerating PDM implementation across the metropolitan region.

By press time on Sunday morning, neither the Presidency or the State House Press Unit (PPU) had confirmed the tour in an official statement, but officials DailyExpress reaffirmed a statement would be released later in the day.
