Kalaki, Uganda: Monica Asako, daughter of the late Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka, former head of the Internal Security Organization, has intensified her grip on the NRM flag race for Kalaki District Woman MP after rallying overwhelming support across Ocelakur Sub County.
On Saturday, July 12, 2025, Asako stormed Sangai, Ocelakur, and Ipenet Parishes with what residents described as a realistic and transformative economic manifesto.
Amid chants from energized supporters, Asako positioned herself as the front-runner in the race, with locals branding her the beacon of hope for Ocelakur’s women, youth, and entrepreneurs.
She pledged transparency, accountability in leadership, improved healthcare access, better educational outcomes, and the empowerment of women entrepreneurs, particularly those engaged in agriculture and crafts.
“I am dedicated to empowering the women and youth,” Asako declared to loud applause from supporters, who hailed her as the most relatable candidate.
Titus Eteru from Sangai described her as “a God-sent leader destined to uplift Kalaki.” He said her name alone would attract long queues on July 17th, adding: “She truly understands our challenges.”
Janet Apiny from Ipenet praised her manifesto as a catalyst for transformation. “She has given us hope. We shall vote for her with that hope,” she said.
Pius Okello described Asako as a down-to-earth leader with a practical vision for socio-economic change.
The rally was electrified by performances from local musicians, including Cool Ug, who kept the crowds entertained, underscoring Asako’s growing connection with grassroots communities.
Asako’s consistency in fostering unity and economic empowerment throughout her campaign has positioned her as the clear favourite heading into the NRM primaries.
