Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Museveni on Monday kicked off the grand wealth creation tour in Kampala, praising residents for embracing the Parish Development Model (PDM) and beneficiaries who are using the program to improve their livelihoods.
On day one of his Kampala PDM tour, the President commissioned the newly built Busega Market in Rubaga Division, before later visiting Mrs. Fausta Nalweyiso in Kibumbiro, whose piggery project he described as an inspiring demonstration of wealth creation under the NRM government’s agenda.
“Her dedication to the Parish Development Model through her piggery project is very impressive,” said Museveni, who contributed UGX 10 million to boost Nalweyiso’s enterprise and UGX 1 million each to ten other PDM beneficiaries.
“It is encouraging to see Ugandans embracing the NRM’s message of wealth creation and taking charge of their future,” he added.

Focus on Supporting Small Businesses and Skilling Youth
Museveni later toured the popular Bakitende Expert Garage in Rubaga, led by Muhammad Mukasa Sonko, which he highlighted as being key in providing services, supporting local suppliers, and training youth.
“Motor garages provide essential services and support local suppliers and catering. I’m eager to assist them by categorizing their tools and equipment for potential government support,” Museveni said.
The President pledged to facilitate the purchase of 12 car carriers for the 12 parishes (miluka) in Rubaga and start distributing tools to garages, beginning in Kampala and extending to other districts.

Additionally, Museveni encouraged service providers, such as food suppliers, to organize themselves to benefit from government capital support.
“To help the garage, which currently pays rent while training disadvantaged youth, we shall purchase the land to remove rental costs and enhance their profitability,” he said.
