Kampala, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commenced the Kampala leg of his Parish Development Model (PDM) zonal tour, bringing to a close his months-long nationwide wealth creation campaign aimed at fast-tracking Uganda’s transition into a fully monetized economy.

The Kampala tour will kick off today, Monday, July 14, 2025, with the commissioning of the newly constructed Busega Central Market in Lubaga Division, where Museveni will meet market vendors and urban stakeholders under his broader agenda of wealth creation and economic empowerment, and the week-long engagement will climax in a public rally at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Museveni’s city tour will focus on urban wealth creation opportunities through the Parish Development Model (PDM), urban agriculture, youth and women SACCOs, market development, manufacturing, and small enterprises.

Kampala, Uganda’s capital and central business district, has been earmarked as a critical front in achieving the national goal of pulling more citizens into the money economy.

Throughout the tour, President Museveni will meet city leadership, market vendors, traders’ associations, youth groups, and the media, with discussions centred on how PDM structures can address urban poverty, unemployment, and promote enterprise-led development.
