Kabuleta: I Believe There Will Be Change of Power in 2026

Kampala, Uganda: Former presidential candidate and leader of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) Party, Joseph Kabuleta, has expressed firm belief that Uganda will witness a change of power in the 2026 general elections.

Speaking at a recent press conference held at NEED Party offices in Kampala, Kabuleta said the country is ripe for political transition and that President Yoweri Museveni should pave way for new leadership after nearly four decades in power.

“There is going to be a change of power in the year 2026. I am telling you, I have charged my strategies this time. I can’t wait to show my supporters what I am all about,” Kabuleta said.

Kabuleta, who contested in the 2021 presidential elections but failed to secure even 1% of the national vote, insists he is more prepared this time with what he describes as fresh strategies aimed at winning support and steering Uganda’s leadership himself.

The NEED Party president dismissed ongoing discussions about forming opposition coalitions ahead of the polls, saying they are often driven by opportunism rather than genuine desire for change.

“Political coalitions are often after financial gains. I am not after money. I am after changing Uganda for the better,” Kabuleta noted.

He emphasized that his focus remains on championing economic empowerment and transforming the governance landscape, arguing that most Ugandans are yearning for leadership that prioritizes national interests over personal enrichment.

With just months to the start of formal campaigns, Kabuleta joins a growing list of opposition figures positioning themselves as credible challengers in what is shaping up to be another highly contested election.
