Rotary Uganda opens New Year at Speke Munyonyo with renewed focus on community service

Kampala, Uganda: Rotary Uganda officially launched its 2025/2026 year of service with a glamorous event at Speke Resort Munyonyo, reaffirming its commitment to unity, community empowerment, and impactful service delivery under the global Rotary theme #UniteForGood.

The colorful ceremony held on July 9, 2025, brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, and distinguished guests from across Uganda and beyond, in what has become one of the most prestigious gatherings on the Rotary calendar.

The launch signaled a renewed drive to champion humanitarian projects across key sectors including health, education, and environmental sustainability.

Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala’s premier conferencing destination, provided a fitting backdrop—its luxurious blend of business and leisure facilities lending the event both grandeur and strategic depth.

A Global Mission Reflected in Uganda

Rotary International, which commands a membership of 1.4 million across 46,000 clubs worldwide, has for decades played a leading role in global humanitarian efforts, notably through its successful partnership with the World Health Organization to immunize over two billion children against polio since 1985.

This year’s Rotary New Year Launch in Uganda showcased the depth of Rotary’s global mission through a ceremonial procession of elegantly dressed Rotarians, vibrant cultural showcases, and a panel discussion highlighting Rotary’s evolving role in addressing Uganda’s contemporary challenges.

Images shared by Speke Resort Munyonyo on X (formerly Twitter) captured the day’s highlights—formal engagements blended with Uganda’s rich cultural heritage, underscoring Rotary’s emphasis on vocational service, integrity, and fostering leadership across generations.

A Renewed Focus on Community Impact

Local Rotarians expressed optimism for the year ahead, pledging to prioritize healthcare access, literacy advancement, clean water initiatives, and youth mentorship programs. Discussions at the event centered on how Rotary Uganda can accelerate sustainable solutions in line with national development objectives.

The event also placed a spotlight on Kampala’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for international conferencing and tourism, with Speke Resort Munyonyo reaffirming its role as a top-tier venue for high-profile gatherings.

Rotary’s Enduring Impact

As Rotary enters another year of global service, Uganda’s Rotarians are determined to scale up their impact through collaboration, innovation, and service-above-self initiatives. The Munyonyo launch served as a powerful reminder of Rotary’s enduring legacy—uniting people of action to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues.
