Mogadishu, Somalia: The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) has conducted a routine inspection of equipment and assets under the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) serving in United Nations Guard Unit Eleven (UNGU-XI) in Somalia.

The inspection exercise, led by UNSOS Logistics Officer Mr. Suzdaliev Andrii alongside Contingent-Owned Equipment Officer Maha Al-Khatteb, was aimed at verifying mission-owned equipment to ensure it meets UN operational standards.

The process is part of the UN’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency in peacekeeping missions.

“The exercise helps verify the condition and use of equipment in line with operational requirements, risk management, and the overall UN mandate,” said Mr. Andrii.

Captain Elapar Ali, the Contingent Logistics Officer for UNGU-XI, emphasized the importance of these periodic checks in maintaining the unit’s operational readiness.

“Regular inspections ensure our logistics systems remain accountable, transparent, and aligned with UN expectations,” said Capt. Elapar, adding that the unit appreciated the inspection team’s detailed and constructive evaluation.

The exercise was attended by officers and soldiers under UNGU-XI, who welcomed the inspection as part of efforts to uphold the high standards expected of UN peacekeeping forces.
