Kampala, Uganda: Singer Michael Mukwaya, popularly known by his stage name Mikie Wine, has publicly distanced his elder brother Bobi Wine from his newly released song ‘Zuena’, clarifying that the track has no connection to the ongoing feud between Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool.
Addressing speculation on social media, Mikie Wine said critics were wrong to assume his brother had influenced the song. He explained that as an artist, he writes and performs music based on his own personal experiences, not family feuds or political rivalries.
“Bobi Wine is not the one who sent me to name my song ‘Zuena’ because I am an old person and I don’t mind what doesn’t concern me. I sang based on my past experiences,” Mikie Wine said.
The song’s title, ‘Zuena’, sparked immediate reactions from fans given the history between Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool, with Zuena being the name of Bebe Cool’s wife. However, Mikie Wine stressed that his song is not aimed at Bebe Cool or his family.
“People thought Bobi Wine sent me. But I am a musician, I sing my truth, not what people want to think,” he added.
Recently, Bebe Cool declared in an interview that he does not intend to forgive Bobi Wine unless the NUP leader publicly apologizes to him. However, Mikie Wine made it clear that such matters have nothing to do with him or his music.
He further remarked that Bobi Wine, now a party president and opposition figure, no longer concerns himself with showbiz dramas. “Their issues have nothing to do with me. Bobi Wine is at a level where he minds his own business,” Mikie Wine said.
Mikie Wine emphasized that Zuena reflects his personal journey in past relationships, not any hidden jab at Bebe Cool.
