Minister Balaam survives deadly car crash in Kagadi, Boda Boda rider killed

Kagadi, Uganda: The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, on Thursday survived a fatal road accident in Kagadi District en route to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom’s annual Youth Conference.

The accident, which claimed the life of a boda boda rider, left two members of the Minister’s team sustained injuries.

In a statement shared on his official X platform, Minister Balaam thanked God for sparing his life and credited his driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvering for preventing further loss of life.

“Thank God for His mercy. Our car was involved in a horrific accident in Kagadi on our way to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom annual Youth Conference. I’m grateful for our driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvers that saved us. Sadly, a boda boda rider lost his life, and two of our people were injured,” Barugahara posted.

The Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved family and wished a swift recovery to the injured members of his delegation. “My condolences to the family, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he added.

The deceased’s body, this publication understands, was conveyed to Kagadi General Hospital, while police launched investigations into the exact cause of the accident.

Barugahara was traveling as part of an official delegation to Fort Portal, where he was expected to officiate at youth engagements under the Tooro Kingdom’s cultural calendar.
