Rwampara, Uganda: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rwampara, Harriet Nakamya, has ordered the immediate arrest of the district NRM Registrar Jackson Mutahi alongside three data entrants for alleged forgery, impersonation, and electoral malpractice during the party’s primaries.
The suspects identified as Collins Nabaasa, Bright Namaziima, and Twinomujuni Simon, are accused of altering declaration forms in a bid to manipulate results in favour of incumbent Woman MP Molly Asiimwe.
According to RDC Nakamya, preliminary findings revealed that the accused tampered with the official tally to falsely declare Asiimwe as the winner against her challenger, Annah Kansiime.
However, following a re-tallying exercise, the results reversed the initial declaration, confirming Annah Kansiime as the rightful winner of the Rwampara Woman MP NRM flag.
Sources within the district security committee allege that the suspects were acting under instructions from Christine Namakula, the NRM Regional Overseer for Western Uganda, who reportedly pushed for Asiimwe’s retention through fraudulent means.
“The law must take its course. Electoral malpractice of this nature undermines the party’s integrity and cannot be tolerated,” RDC Nakamya said after ordering their detention.
Police in Rwampara are now handling investigations into the forgery claims, with charges expected to include impersonation, abuse of office, and interfering with electoral processes.
